What core are they for? I'm using ganbatte. This is an updated version of my GameBoy overlay for RetroArch I made back in 2017 ( Libretro Forums ). I dont believe there is currently a way in RetroPie to utilize the Super GameBoy borders or color information, which is especially a shame for Donkey Kong and Space Invaders. If you want BEZELS (not to be confused with the Super Game Boy "borders") you need to download those separately and recommend you get them through The Bezel Project. Super GameBoy titles have their own specialized color pallets that can only be accessed with GBC/SNES hybrid emulation. There is an overwhelming array of them and we cant show all of them on this page. Basically this means for those changes to happen you need to close and reopen Retroarch. RetroArch is shipped with a lot of shaders. Take note on the options that say require restart, you need to restart Retroarch, not just the current emulator/game running. The 3rd option you might need to tinker with is "Video - Display Border" and you likely want the option "Only for Super Game Boy" selected here, but change per what you want here. There is the Super Game Boy 2 options, but I'm not sure what exactly they offer that the original doesn't. if you dont like them, just restore from your backup. If you want to try them out, backup your retroarch folder and then install.

These are not flat borders, they do have a CRT curve in the overlay. For the 2nd one you want either "Super Game Boy NTSC" or Super Game Boy PAL" accordingly to the game's region. EDIT: Looking back at your question, this might not be ideally what youre looking for.

If you need to, select another option accordingly. If your ROM is "SGB Enhanced" (Super Game Boy Enhanced) and you have selected "Auto Detect DMC/SGB/CGB" it should load up the Super Game Boy stuff automatically. A selection of borders for use with Game Boy Interface, including Super Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance borders. Cant find settings for the borders, I dont think those work. just tried donkey kong and it colorizes correctly. I have it installed as a bubble using adrenaline bubble manager. They are called "System - Emulated Model (Requires Restart)" and "System - Auto Detected SGB Model (Requires Restart)". EDIT: just remembered one of the emulators that works great for super gameboy games is 'masterboy' for the PSP, which works great in adrenaline. I feel like that works better for the 3DS, given that theres already Virtual Console borders for GB/GBC. Joined Messages 67 Trophies 0 Age 26 XP 196 Country. The settings you need to change are in this Options menu. When it's running hit the F1 key to open Retroarch's Quick Menu. Sameboy is/was my go-to for proper GB/GBC emulation and integration with RetroArchs features. I'm assuming you have your Game Boy games already running OK in Retroarch for this to work. Sameboy is the core to use for proper Super Gameboy support (v1 & v2) and borders, but sadly it looks like RetroPie-Extras removed it from their repo because of some recent build issue on the Pi. This is pretty straight forward once you know where to look for the settings.
